Days at sea returning to San Diego
We have 2 days at sea to take us north from Puerto Vallarta to San Diego. For 2 nights in a row the clocks are changed so we have an extra hour of sleep!
The weather was hot and sunny the first day, somewhat cooler the second day with periods of sun, rain and even a rainbow. In the mornings Karen and I did our mile plus on the Promenade deck, then breakfast. On one day there was a special Mexican brunch. I went to the Pickleball classes both mornings. There were lectures on several topics, and many activities that I did not join in on like trivia, handicrafts, bingo, bridge. At lunchtime the lido buffet was always popular, as was the Dive-in burger station, and the taco bar. On days at sea the cover over the pool deck was usually partly closed so it was comfortable to sit out around the pool. (this is where we spent a lot of time). The last evening there was more of a swell, and some people were feeling it. On the whole though, it was a calm cruise.
This ship holds around 1450 passengers, and the count this week is about 1100. It really doesn't feel crowded and we haven't experienced lineups. I think it's different if you're on the anytime dining as I have seen lineups for that at various times. And also for people who are in a hurry to disembark (especially tender ports)
The demographic on this cruise was certainly older. Only about 3 families with kids (it will be different on the Christmas holiday sailing!) A few people in their 40s and 50s, but the majority older and many with mobility issues. On the other hand, there were fit older people, a lot who played Pickle ball every day. It's certainly a very popular activity on board! Also a lot of people doing their laps around the deck.
Our dinners in the main dining room were always good. Service could be a little slow at times when busy, but always friendly and attentive. Although there are items like lobster tail that are an extra cost, there is still lots of choice.
We really enjoyed the dance reviews, also music in the Ocean Bar and the piano bar. All in all, a very enjoyable cruise!
